The usual practice and preference of people of this region rushing neighbouring states like Maharashtra (Solapur) or Andhra (Hyderbad) for health care facilities. HKE Society has realized the need of the hour and started Medical College in 1963 with the mission to bring out quality doctors by imparting quality education to meet the present and changing expectation of the people and improving the health status of the people of this region by offering health care and providing optimum training facilities for Medical students.

In 1973, the Medical College was re-named as "Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College". M. R. Medical College has 2 (two) attached Teaching Hospital facilities: Basaveshwar Teaching & General Hospital with Multi-speciality facilities in Kalaburgai and Sangameshwar Teaching Hospital Kalaburagi. M.R. Medical college offers MBBS and 20+ PG courses. HKE Society has established a Dental college and offers good treatment facilities. Nursing is an important supporting component in health care services. HKE Society has realized the importance of nursing and has established nursing schools and colleges to prepare the dedicated and skilled nursing squad for health care services.
